Pregnancy Thyroid TSH & Trimester Target Evaluator
Evaluate your serum TSH and antibody status against strict gestational reference ranges. The human fetus depends entirely on maternal thyroxine (T4) during the critical first trimester of cerebral organogenesis.
Thyroid reference intervals shift dramatically across each trimester due to human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) stimulation.
Standard non-pregnant ranges (up to 4.5 mIU/L) are dangerously lax during pregnancy.
TPO-positive mothers carry a significantly higher risk of miscarriage and gestational hypothyroidism.
Gestational Thyroid Clinical Evaluation
Endocrine Society & American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)
Optimal Gestational Range
TSH: 2.1 mIU/L
First Trimester Target: 0.1 to 2.5 mIU/L
Clinical Guideline Assessment
Your TSH is within the strict First Trimester target window (< 2.5 mIU/L). Maternal Free T4 supply is sufficient for embryonic neural tube closure and brain architecture.
Critical Pregnancy Protocol Reminders:
- Immediate 2-Dose Rule: If already taking levothyroxine, ATA guidelines recommend increasing your dose by 20% to 30% (taking 2 extra tablets per week, e.g. on Mondays and Thursdays) immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy.
- Iodine Requirement: Ensure your prenatal vitamin contains at least 150 to 220 mcg of potassium iodide.
- Monitoring Frequency: Check serum TSH and Free T4 every 4 weeks through the mid-second trimester (week 20).
